Sporting Clays Shoot - Birds Landing - October 4th, 2014
End of the Year Shoot

Saturday, October the forth, our chapter held the annual "end of the year" sporting clays match and swap meet at the Birds Landing Sporting Clays/Hunting facility. The weather was great with no wind. We had a great turn-out with thirty one shooters competing. This year several of the stations were a bit tougher than last year as evidenced by overall lower scores. And I also noticed there were a few new members present this year. The top shooters were Don Berry with a winning score of 78, Bill Barnes was second with a 76, Roger Odle and John Hilt tied with scores of 75 and Mike McCabe and Larry Shelton finished up with a 74s.

As you all know we have changed from awarding prizes for highest shooting scores and instead we now draw names for door prizes. I have receive some good feedback because of this change. We gave away about two hundred and forty dollars in shooting related goodies this yeay.
Birds Landing has employees constantly patrolling the course to insure a smooth and enjoyable experience for shooters at their facility. This is still my number one choice for our annual shoot/swap meet.

Lunch was self order in the Birds Landing cafe and I believe most of the shooters did eat there. The swap meet was held again in the covered area near station one. There was plenty of parking area adjacent to the covered area where shooters displayed their wears for sale/trade. Items for sale or trade were guns items, Mec and Ponsness Warren shotgun reloading machines, tools, ammo, primers and some powder, gun cases etc.

We had a great year and I hope to see additional sporting clays events next year.
